Waldoboro VFW, Auxiliary and Community Foundation Celebrate Successful Benefit

Waldoboro, Maine - John Howland, Commander of Soule Shuman Memorial VFW Post 4525, Barbara Johnson, President of Post's Ladies Auxiliary, and John Blamey, President of the Medomak Valley Community Foundation, proudly announce that the VFW Post's benefit bingo netted over $1,100.00 for the Kevin Murray Memorial Fund.
The Kevin Murray Memorial Fund, established in 2006, provides funds to help children purchase the equipment or supplies they need to enjoy the youth recreational activity of their choice. The Medomak Valley Community Foundation manages the Fund.
Commander Howland stated, "The VFW is very proud to have helped raise this money for the Kevin Murray Memorial Fund. This fund is an important asset for our community's support of its youth.
President Johnson added, "It was very exciting to see so many community members turn-out for this event. It is a clear indication that folks feel this project is very important to our children and the quality of life in our communities."
John Blamey, President of the Medomak Valley Community Foundation, stated,"The Foundation is very grateful to the VFW and Auxiliary for their support of our fund raising efforts."
He added, "I thank the community for its support. It was great to see everyone and to share in helping our community support a healthy lifestyle for our children. I want to recognize the area businesses, artisans and residents who donated items to help make this a truly special event: Agren Appliance, Arlene Eugley, Fessendens, Hillside Collision Center Audrey Krah, Little Sunshine Market, Philip McGuire, McKean & Charles, Peter J. Moody, Moody's Diner, Moody's Gift Shop, Ocean's Bounty Restaurant, S. Fernald's 5 & 10, Subway, Shelley's Flowers, The Movie Pizza Shoppe, Priscilla Reed and Mark and Joan Vannah."
Blamey continued, "I also want to thank the members of the Foundation's Fund Raising Committee, and friends, for their help that evening, they made this fun event a great success: Pam Blamey, Bill and Carol Blodgett, Mark Biscoe, Charlotte Davenhill, Danny Jackson, Colleen Jones, Bonnie Lash, Tina O'Donnell, and Susan Jackson.
Commander Howland closed by saying, "We encourage everyone to continue to support the Kevin Murray Memorial Fund. This is a unique resource for our community."
