Waldoboro, Maine - John Howland, Commander of Waldoboro's Soule Shuman Memorial VFW Post 4525, and Eileen Dondlinger, President of the Post's Ladies Auxiliary, announced that the Post will again donate the profit from its regular Monday-night bingo game on December 1, 2008 to the Kevin Murray Memorial Fund. Bingo is held at the VFW Hall, 50 Mill Street, Waldoboro. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the first game begins at 6:30 p.m.
The Kevin Murray Memorial Fund, established in 2006, helps children obtain the equipment or supplies they need for the recreational activities of their choice. In the last 18 months, over $1,000 has been donated, helping more than 30 children enjoy various recreational activities. The Medomak Valley Community Foundation manages the Kevin Murray Memorial Fund.
Commander Howland stated, "The VFW is a strong advocate for the youth in our community, and we are proud to be a 5-year partner in the Community Foundation's fundraising efforts. The Kevin Murray Fund is a very important resource to ensure our children have the equipment they need to participate in the youth programs offered in the region."
President Dondlinger added, "We are very pleased to help the Foundation in their fundraising efforts. This continues our Auxiliary's long history of supporting community-based activities."
John Blamey, President of the Medomak Valley Community Foundation, stated,"The Foundation is very grateful for the VFW and Auxiliary's continued support of our fund raising programs." He added, "As a community foundation, the Kevin Murray Memorial Fund enhances our mission of encouraging community action to help our neighbors achieve their full potential."
Commander Howland closed by saying, "We invite everyone to support our children by coming to the bingo game on December 1st. In addition to the regular cash bingo game, the Foundation will also have a 50-50 raffle, and a 'Stocking Stuffer Raffle' of gift certificates and small gifts. So come and share in the fun, and help the future of our community; our children."
